Great lens
I did a ton of research when looking for the 'best' telephoto lens for my camera. 'Best', let's be honest, runs in the thousands, so 'middling' ended up being a more accurate search. I can't at the moment drop $1600 on a single lens. It's a hobby after all, not my profession. This lens turned up on a lot of 'must-have lenses' recommendations, and when it went on sale for 50% off, I nabbed one.I use this just about daily, and have found it's a fantastic lens. I'm no camera expert, by any means - I'm just starting into the hobby - but this lens takes beautiful pictures. Mostly used for landscapes and mucking about with 'can I capture the cat's face from here?' shots.Came in the original Sony box, really well packed, arrived on time.I'm entirely happy I got this lens.Including a few pics I took with it for reference. The photos are untouch ed except for the text in the corner. An excellent lens for Sony E-mount cameras at an affordable price
I received the lens in a white box together with the lens hood, and two caps (front + back). The box was labeled "SEL55210 New" and contained no other manuals or papers. I suspect this white box version may pose some warranty issues but I was willing to take the risk for the significant savings over other more traditional retailers. The lens was in physically perfect condition and shipped with the newest v.02 firmware.I immediately started using it with my Sony A5000. I've quickly found it to be an indispensable addition to the kit SELP1650 lens. It does very well in even moderately lit conditions and the autofocus is reasonably fast. It adds a lot of bulk to an otherwise tiny camera but gives a huge amount of flexibility in taking pseudo-macro shots or keeping a distance from wildlife. The manual zoom is very smooth and the overall build is plastic, but of high quality. It's very easy to achieve pleasant "bokeh" (background defocus) when zooming in with this lens. The one major downside (other than the size versus the tiny stock lens) is that it's a fairly 'slow' (i.e. high f-number) lens which means it needs slower shutter speeds in low-light situations. I find I do need to rest the camera on a stable surface if I'm taking pictures under extreme conditions (e.g. at night in a room lit by a single lamp) in order to avoid blurry pictures. Outdoors during daytime this lens shines!Do have realistic expectations however, especially when paired with a lower-end camera like the A5000 it probably won't auto-focus nearly fast enough for spur of the moment sports or action photography.I've included some shots with this review, I highly recommend this lens for A5000/5100 and A6000 owners, especially at the Amazon marketplace prices. Watch the offers carefully as the prices tend to fluctuate quickly.Happy shooting! - Reviewed by ambond (Reviewed in Canada on April 19, 2019)
Highly Recommend
A good all-around lens when you want to travel light. I used this and my iPhone on a recent safari. While it would have been nice to have a 400mm lens to shoot some far off animals, and I had to switch to my iPhone 8 for close up, or wider shots; using this lens with my Sony a6000 and my iPhone, met 90% of my needs, and produced pics that I am really proud of. I am glad I chose this option, as it saved on weight and space in my travel pack - and that's important when constantly on the move, and not checking baggage. Professional quality. Great fit for my camera. Came with both end caps, and solid lens hood in sealed box with all instructions. Fast shipping. - Reviewed by Gadget Joe (Reviewed in Canada on M arch 3, 2016)
Fantastic deal, great lens for the price, genuine Sony warranty
I just received this yesterday and I'm very impressed.Pleasant surprise: the lens came with a proper Canadian warranty (2 yrs parts & labour) in the box. I was doubtful because at this price the lenses are typically from an 'international' market, but this lens was genuinely made for the North American market. I called in to Sony to register the serial # for the warranty and they had no problem with the Amazon purchase. They just said "Make sure you keep the receipt, you'll need it for warranty service." The lens was made in Thailand, and so were my A6000 camera and the stock SELP1650 lens that came with it.Technically this is a 3.8x zoom (210/55) but compared to the 16mm wide angle you get 13x magnification. Coupled with my A6000, I can take pics indoors with medium lighting, at full zoom (f/6.3), 1/5 sec at 3200 ISO and the pics still come out impressively clear a nd bright. The OSS stabilization is very noticeable at full zoom, where it's obvious how much my hands wobble until I hold the shutter button to focus. Then OSS kicks in and the image stays still for clear shots at 1/5 sec exposure. The lens came in the same retail box you would get if you bought it at any electronics store. Included in the box are a Sony lens hood and front and back lens caps, another pleasant surprise as they're not mentioned in the product description.BONUS: With the price savings, I opted in to a 3rd-party warranty that covers 2 years of accidental damage (drops, spills etc) and I still spent $25 less than the best local prices.I'll include sample photos below. NOTE the first one is from the 16-55mm lens at f=16mm for comparison; 2nd and 3rd are with the SEL55210 at 55mm and 210mm respectively. None of the attached photos have been altered in any way. They are straight from the camera.NOTE: the Product Details lists the wrong model #. SEL55210/B is the BL ACK model, but this is the silver SEL55210. - Reviewed by leo (Reviewed in Canada on October 18, 2019)

Nice affordable zoom lens for Sony A6000
A very good addition to my camera gear. The lens came in the sealed Sony box. Well constructed solid lens with auto-focus and nice reach to 210 x 1.5 crop factor = 315mm equivalent focal length . Sharp in the center, reasonably fine at the edges. Great value. Best for outdoor use. Recommended.
